Patty Duke Keynote Speaker at 2007 Tapestry: A Day for Women
Friday, April 27, 2007
Emley Design Group and gallery8010 helped sponsor “Tapestry: A Day for Women,” an event designed to help raise scholarship funds for women interested in attending Indiana-University/Purdue University, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Nearly 750 women attended the all-day event, which included keynote speaker Patty Duke, motivational singer/songwriter Jana Stanfield, breakout sessions, and a boutique and trade show venue.
“We’ve been a proud sponsor of Tapestry for the past four years,” said Donna Emley, principal and creative director of Emley Design Group and co-owner of gallery8010. “We've seen Jana perform in Nashville, and then we found out Patty Duke was going to be the keynote speaker, so we asked if we could make a special presentation to both women at the sponsorship reception — to thank them for being such inspirational forces for so many others.”
Each woman received an exquisite glass pendant, designed and created by The Glass Café, one of many fine artists featured at gallery8010.
Jewelry designer and Glass Café owner Amy Fues from Chicago was on hand to help make the presentation. Other gallery8010 artists were also on display in the boutique area of Tapestry during the shopping hours, and a gallery8010 gift certificate was included as part of the raffle.
